Watermelon screams summer picnic!
Kansas City Canning Co. makes a great watermelon habanero shrub that’s easy to pack with a spirit of your choice and a homemade herb syrup. Mix with a chilled sparkling white, like cava, Prosecco, or champagne. Light, little bubbly, perfect.
Makes 1 serving
2 ounces favorite sparkling white wine or spirit of your choice
2 ounces KC Canning Co. Watermelon Habañero Shrub
3/4 ounces Herb Syrup
Combine shrub, herb syrup and spirit to make a cocktail.
To make Herb Syrup: Combine 3 ounces dried or fresh herb of choice (basil, herbes de Provence, cilantro work well with watermelon)with 2 cups granulated sugar (white is best) and 2 cups water in a blender. Mix until herbs arepulverized, and sugar is blended with water. Strain out the solids. Store in a bottle in your fridge and use throughout the summer.
